post 996. Today Would've Been A Friday.

Very, very happy to make it into one of my favorite lit mags, Scaffold Lit! This one simmered in my head for about a month, tinkering and thinking about it, not rushing it, which is different from my usual way of writing: just getting something I think is "good enough" and sending it out. I need to spend more time making sure my pieces feel 100%, and not being as worried about getting something out the door in hopes of getting published. Read it...here.

Very excited to get back to Michigan to be a part of What The Constitution Means To Me, at Meadow Brook Theatre! Feels like I just left...which means another chance to get to Third Man Records (again), enjoy the DIA (again), and eat my weight in Buddy's Pizza (again).

What a way to start the new year: I've got a piece out today with Gooseberry Pie Lit! This is a creative non-fiction-y work that came out of last year's Smokelong Quarterly March Micro Madness workshops. It had been laying around in the hard drive until this past October, when the stars aligned (meaning, "the coffee") and I found the right edits that made me feel good. post 992. Teaching An Old Dolphin New Tricks (Again).

Really excited that I've gotten this old chestnut reprinted by the fine folks at Metastellar! My sci-fi piece about a cranky veteran spacer was first published in the Ab Terra Anthology 2022, and I'm very happy to see it out there again. This is also the second year in a row that I've had something published on New Year's Eve! Very thankful. Read it...here.

post 989. Indiana Jones And The Giant Pit Of Consequences.

Big big personal accomplishment! My lates piece, "Indiana Jones And The Giant Pit Of Consequences" has just been published by Complete Sentence! This lit mag has been a favorite of mine for a long time, and I'm so thrilled and honored to be included. It came out of the Smokelong Quarterly workshops--like so much else this year--and I remember first drafting this while I was on a bus heading from NYC to CNY. Also? Bonus? I got my dad to paint the artwork for it, and he knocked it out of the park! Read it...here.
