One of my favorite people to work with is AJ Robins, who I met in Michigan on contracts as an actor. Very, very thankful to NART Magazine for taking in this (NSFW) set that we shot a while back! Couple preview shots here, but check out the whole thing...here.

post 965. jake paul beats mike tyson.
Now, this is never gonna happen again, but I woke up last Saturday Morning to the news that Mike Tyson got beat by Jake Paul. (I've never watched a fight in my life, but I remember growing up that Tyson was this mythologically unstoppable force, so there was a bit of me that was hoping the best fighter of my generation knocked this upstart social media influencer's lights out. Thing is? Tyson's age aside, I kinda feel like I knew where it was going. You know, my usual struggles with Entropic Disorder, the recent election, mortality issues...blah blah blah.)
So hearing the results of the fight, I wasn't surprised; but also, something clicked. The opening line came into my head. Some improv/free writing on the idea went into my Notes app on Saturday, I transferred it to a proper document on Sunday, reworked it on Monday, and submitted it on Tuesday. THEN I realized there was a major issue with it--I had structured the piece as a series of questions instead of statements--so I withdrew it, made the change to statements, resubmitted. And the fine folks at BULL accepted it on Wednesday with one of the nicest notes I've ever gotten about my writing. Fastest turnaround to publication ever. So again, I know this stroke of inspirato will never happen again, but I'm very proud that I was able to make something that I felt was juuust right, that was exactly what I wanted to say, before I overthought/overworked it to death.
Oh, and if the conspiracy theories are true? If this fight was rigged? Then that makes it even worse. Because that would mean Tyson wasn't beaten, but he gave up.
Anyhoo, here's Wonderwall: Jake Paul Beats Mike Tyson.

post 963. new photography published.
Have a new photo set with Cassidy that's made its way to the pages of Loike Homme Magazine! We shot this at FD Studios in Long Island City, and I'm very happy with the way the mood came through. Check out Loike Homme, and give Cassidy a follow!

post 962. new face-resumes.
I was hoping to get a different perspective on myself at 50. For the past...well, for my entire acting career, I figured I could--as a photographer myself--just take my own headshots, and they've done me pretty well. But all my headshot sessions with other photographers came from luck: I won a monologue contest back in the early 2010s and that entitled me to a free headshot session, and then I once spotted (the incredibly kind) Peter Hurley a latte while working at Birch and he gave me a free 30-minute headshot session. Headshots can be so stressful--especially in New York City--since they can cost so. Frikkin.' Much. But I just felt like it was time to do something different. And Yellowbelly helped. Affordable, friendly, and great to deal with? A great experience.
