post 449. happiness, waiting is.

after watching most of the bbc's kitchen nightmares, it's a little - only a little - disappointing to see fox's hell's kitchen. i know that we have to dumb-down and drama-up things for the american audiences, but fox totally paints gordon ramsey as an ogre; as if they keep him in a box in the basement without food and water, and poke him with a stick before they let him out. if i was watching this for the first time, i'd have to ask: who the hell is this guy, and what's his problem?

in the bbc's kitchen nightmares, we learn why gordon ramsey is so meticulous and demands such high standards. he guides people; he talks to them; when they're idiots, he tells them in his own (memorable) way, but in the end we see the human side: why is making food so well so important to him? with hell's kitchen, the viewer sees only this tyrannical nut-job who shows up, yells at things, kicks things, throws things, and curses a lot. i think a little more attention needs to be paid, oh fox, as to why gordon ramsey has his own show.

but my money? this season? it's on ben. he's got that electrician thing, which makes him real-world savvy, and he's got the calm cool thing, trying to get the team working together. i'd like to see jason burn himself. i can't wait to see bobby filet himself with his own mouth. and i think christina might be the dark horse.

and what's the best part of all this hell's kitchen madness? this. take that, rachel ray.
